Subject: 08.03.13 Post-Doc Molecular Simulations and Force Field Development, Washington State University
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Position at the
Department of Chemistry, Division of Physical Chemistry, at Washington State
University, Pullman Wa (USA).

The theme of this project is modeling of aqueous metal ions and
metal ion chelates in organic solution. Topics of our research include
environmental behavior of metal ions, solid:liquid and liquid:liquid
interfacial chemistry of metal ions, metal solvent extraction mechanisms,
specifically how multiscale organization of solvent influences reactivity.
Significant focus is spent on f-elements (lanthanides and actinides).
Ab initio (DFT) calculations will be used to fit classical force fields of
metal-solvent and metal-chelate interactions. Further
details can be found at http://chem.wsu.edu/people/faculty/auclark.html.

Washington State University is located in the beautiful Palouse region,
surrounded by idyllic farmlands, world-class skiing to the north and
white water rafting to the south. WSU is home to a vibrant computational
chemistry and materials science community with many collabotations at
US national laboratories (LANL and PNNL). The postdoctoral researcher will
have opportunities to collaborate with these institutions and aid in the
supervision of PhD students.

Applicants should have a solid background in statistical mechanics and
computational chemistry/physics, be highly motivated, and have excellent
written and verbal English skills.

Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae electronically
to Aurora Clark, (auclark[*]wsu.edu),including academic references.
The position will start at any time and remain open until filled.
