Microkinetic Modeling

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering has an immediate opening for either a Member of the Technical Staff or a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at our Corporate Strategic Research laboratory in Clinton, NJ.

Candidates are sought to fill a key position in the area of microkinetic modeling. A strong background in first principle modeling approaches to surface chemistry, reaction rate theory and thermo chemical kinetics is necessary and experience in the kinetics of zeolite catalysis is advantageous. The successful candidate will use advanced computational techniques to elucidate heterogeneous reaction mechanisms and will generate and optimize kinetic models for catalytic systems of interest. Initial applications will be in modeling refinery and chemical process kinetics and the coupling of reaction kinetics with diffusion and transport.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong scientific leadership within both the corporation and the external scientific community. Strong communication skills are essential, as collaboration with other science areas is critical for success. A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physical Chemistry or similar fields is required.
