Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on

discovery platform. Currently, our Princeton, New Jersey location
is seeking candidates for the following position.

Systems Administrator

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Unix
computing environment supporting high-performance computing systems and
laboratory devices. The candidate must have proven mastery of Unix system
administration as this position requires technical independence. Core
skills include: O/S maintenance; installation and updating of third-party
software; development of shell and CGI scripts; troubleshooting; hardware
maintenance; backup & recovery; purge & archive; job queue configuration;
security. The Systems Administrator must be customer focused, as they will
play an important role in an integrated team. The incumbent should have
excellent skills in the following areas: organization, customer relations,
vendor relations, documentation, and multi-tasking. Candidates with a
background in Cheminformatics and/or high performance computing (HPC)are
highly preferred. Oracle Database Administration experience is a plus. 

Qualifications

B.S. or higher, preferably in Computer Science, Chemistry, or Engineering
4 years as a Unix/Linux system administrator 
3 years in a scientific organization, preferably chemistry or materials
engineering 
2 years experience working with grid computing or job queuing
(e.g. PVM,SGE) 
Good communication skills
