Subject: 08.10.10 Postdoc Statistical Mechanics/Computational Chemistry ( U. of Iowa, USA )
A position is available in theoretical and computational chemistry.
The project involves the study of statistical mechanical, chemical and
spectroscopical properties of novel room-temperature ionic-liquids.
This is a booming area, in industrial, governmental and academic
environments since these liquids have extensive applicability as
non-volative organic solvents, battery electrolytes, and in many other
energetic and technological areas.

A strong background in statistical mechanics, programming in C and Fortran
as well as condensed matter simulations is required. The successful
candidate will have a strong publication track record during the past
several years.

Familiarity with different simulation packages is highly desirable
as is experience with MD simulations of slow dynamically heterogeneous
systems.

The initial appointment is for one year, contingent upon mutual
satisfaction.

The interested candidate should read the following 4 articles to
familiarize with the type of research before applying:

Persistent local environments and the red-edge effect"

PNAS, January 24, 2006, vol. 103, no. 4, 831836
