To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Fri Sep 26 20:22:10 2008 Subject: 08.09.26 ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, Center for Molecular Biophysics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, UTK, TN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: The Biochemistry, Cellular & Molecular Biology (BCMB) Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level to begin August 1, 2009 in the following area: COMPUTATIONAL MOLECULAR BIOPHYSICS The research associated with the appointment will be performed in the Center for Molecular Biophysics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). There is particular interest in candidates with expertise in the physical modeling and simulation of the dynamics of biological systems, complementing neutron experiments. Particularly strong interactions are expected with research undertaken at the new Spallation Neutron Source and the National Leadership Supercomputing Centre, both at ORNL, and with the ORNL Life, Computational and Physical Sciences programs. The successful candidate will also benefit from interactions with strong research groups within UTK. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a first-class, externally funded research program, to provide state-of-the-art training for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and to contribute to the teaching mission of the BCMB department at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in relevant areas of computational molecular biophysics, evidence of significant scientific productivity, and a commitment to an integrated program of teaching and research.
