Application is invited for a postdoctoral position starting December 
2008 or later in Molecule & Life Nonlinear Sciences Laboratory, 
Research Institute for Electronic Science, Hokkaido University - JAPAN. 
The initial appointment will be for one year with reappointment for the 
second year by mutual agreement.


(1) Research fields

1 - Development of time series analysis based on dynamical systems 
theory and information theory to explore single molecule biophysics.
2 - Collective motions and hydrodynamics of liquid water in the 
vicinity of protein and their dynamical role relevant to functions.
3 - Network analysis of multiscale state space network constructed 
from single molecule time series.
4  Information flow among multi-component systems or across different 
hierarchy in multiscale systems.

(2) Qualification
Ideal candidates would have a strong background of either information 
theory, bioinformatics, nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, 
molecular dynamics simulation, dynamical systems theory or 
related disciplines. Experience in 
advanced programming skills (C, Fortran, Perl), familiarity with 
UNIX/Linux operating system, and an interest in developing new 
methodologies are preferred.  A Ph.D. in 
/physics/mathematics/chemistry/biophysics, or in a related discipline 
is required.

(3) term
The term can be extended from 2008 December through 2010 November 
(for the second year by mutual agreement).
