Subject: 10.01.15 CHEMOINFORMATICS, Boehringer Ingelheim R&D, Laval, Qc, CAN
Boehringer Ingelheim is an innovative research-based pharmaceutical company
with a global Research and Development network.
The R&D centre of Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd., located in the
greater Montreal area, is a leader in antiviral drug discovery.
Our research programs are directed toward the discovery and development of
new medicines for the treatment of serious and life threatening viral
diseases.

We have a career opportunity within our organization for the following
position:
Research Scientist in CHEMOINFORMATICS
We are seeking a creative and motivated Research Scientist with experience
in the pharmaceutical industry to join our Chemistry team.
The successful candidate will employ chemoinformatics in support of drug
discovery projects and will work in close collaboration with
multidisciplinary drug discovery teams (medicinal chemistry, molecular
biology, pharmacology, computational chemistry, structural chemistry and
drug discovery support). The candidate will suggest and design new
approaches leading to the;
o Identification of novel hit and lead molecules through the mining
of screening campaign databases and published literature
o Development of in silico ADME prediction models
(eg microsome stability, cell permeation, CYP450 inhibition, etc)
o Optimization of drug candidates based on physico-chemical
property relationships and structural chemistry

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. degree / Post doc (or equivalent) in
chemistry, or be able to demonstrate significant project responsibility if
not in possession of a Ph.D. It is essential that prospective candidates
can demonstrate at least 2 years of relevant pharmaceutical research
experience, and demonstrate experience of working in multi-disciplinary
teams.

In addition to substantial training and experience, candidates should
possess an in-depth knowledge and comprehension of chemoinformatics across
the entire range of the Discovery process, from high-throughput screening
to Lead Optimization, including;
o Demonstrated expertise in handling/maintenance of large databases,
clustering, QSAR, in silico ADME-PK predictions, virtual library design &
virtual screening.
o Demonstrated skills in the use of standard chemoinformatics approaches
(eg PCA analysis, Support-Vector Machine and Recursive Partitioning) and
chemoinformatics software (eg PipelinePilot, physico-chemical prediction
algorithms).
o Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate
in French is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work in
multidisciplinary teams.
We provide a stimulating work environment and highly competitive
compensation and benefits. Should you be interested in this position,
