Groton, CT, 06340 The CompSci CoE currently has an opening in our Groton research site for a scientific programmer with strong skills in software development. Responsibilities will include development and implementation of innovative methods and algorithms to enhance computational approaches in areas including virtual screening, library design, and cheminformatics. Incumbent will provide support, maintenance and further development of key infrastructure related to virtual screening databases and methods, and an internally developed computational services framework. Additional responsibilities include the development of related computational chemistry or cheminformatics innovations primarily to support needs at the Groton site, but which could also see global utility across all of our sites. The incumbent will also frequently interact with other developers in the CompSci CoE on multi-site, multi-disciplinary projects. Qualifications: The position requires a Ph.D. in a computational science based discipline or a BS/MS with equivalent work experience. Advanced knowledge of computational principles and knowledge of how to apply these techniques to pharmaceutical research projects is required, along with knowledge of pharmaceutical drug discovery and development processes. A strong background in Chemistry is also required. Technical qualifications include facility with (a) programming languages such as Java or C++, (b) relational database tools, and (c) operating systems such as Linux and Windows. Knowledge of C#, Python, MatLab, or R, and quantitative methods including statistics and applied mathematics will also be a plus. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.
