Groton, CT, 06340 The CompSci CoE currently has an opening in our Groton research site for a computational scientist to develop chemogenomics and systems chemical biology algorithms and methods. Responsibilities will include research and development of methods for modeling and visualizing pharmacological profiles for the purpose of new target identification, lead hopping, drug repurposing and safety profiling. As part of a multidisciplinary team you will develop innovative computational solutions using linked data and semantic web technologies that have direct positive impact on on-going pharmaceutical research projects. Responsibilities include interacting with medicinal chemists, biologists, ADME, and safety scientists to both identify on-going project needs and promote computational solutions. Qualifications: This position requires a Ph.D. in a computational sciences based discipline or a BS/MS with equivalent work experience. Advanced knowledge of computational principles and knowledge of how to apply these techniques to pharmaceutical research projects is required, along with knowledge of pharmaceutical drug discovery and development processes. Demonstrated experience in developing and applying computational methods in one or more of the following areas: chemogenomics/chemical biology, pathways/networks visualization, selectivity analysis, machine learning methods. Technical qualifications include proficiency with (a) cheminformatics methods and toolkits such as Pipeline Pilot, Accelyrs Accord SDK, OpenEye OEChem, ChemAxon Marvin Beans and JChem (b) machine learning and/or statistical modeling (c) demonstrated awareness of emerging technologies in the field of chemogenomics and chemical biology network analysis tools and methods and (d) track record of publications and presentations in this area of research. In addition, experience working with Linked Data and Semantic Web technologies is beneficial. The ability to effectively work in a team environment is essential.
