Subject: 10.06.28 Ph.D. position in classical and quantum molecular simulation of hydrogen storage
The development and performance optimisation of devices for reversible
hydrogen storage is a key goal towards the realisation of the Hydrogen
Economy, and is a significant challenge for Mankinds energy requirements
in the 21st century. It is anticipated that a Ph.D. position will become
available at UCD in September/October 2010, which will involve the
application of classical and quantum molecular simulation techniques to
model hydrogen storage in a variety of materials, and feature extensive
collaboration with a team of experimental researchers, as part of a larger
research programme into solar energy and solar-based hydrogen production.

Expressions of interest to conduct Ph.D. research in this project are
invited, under the principal supervision of Dr. Niall English (School of
Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, UCD). Strong programming,
mathematical and physics abilities are required, as are good oral
communication and writing skills in English. Applications will be
reviewed by early August, and candidates can expect to hear back prior to
mid-August.

Those interested should contact Dr. English, providing a CV and names /
contact details of references.
