Avant-garde Materials Simulation Deutschland GmbH (AMS, www.avmatsim.eu),
a small company based in Freiburg (Germany) specialising in scientific
software for the organic solid state, is looking for a scientific software
engineer. AMS is the world's leading company in the area of crystal
structure prediction of molecular compounds and intends to extend its
crystal structure prediction methodology to other areas of molecular
modelling. AMS' main drive is the development of new algorithms.

The successful candidate has a PhD or equivalent in numerical informatics,
applied mathematics or theoretical physics. He/she has excellent knowledge
of C++ and Linux, has experience with professional software development
and High-Performance Computing and has implemented complex scientific
algorithms where numerical accuracy and computational speed were essential.
The candidate quickly adapts to new tasks, is able to quickly grasp their
colleagues' train of thought, fits in seamlessly in a small team of
competent scientists and speaks German and English, of which at least one
fluently. Previous programming experience on one of the topics force field
development, density functional calculations or global optimisation
algorithms is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
