To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Tue Jul 27 11:38:25 2010 Subject: 10.07.27 Postdoctoral Fellow, Bioinformatics and Chemoinformatics, NCTR, FDA Postdoctoral Research Position: Bioinformatics and Chemoinformatics National Center for Toxicological Research, US Food and Drug Administration National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to undertake bioinformatics and chemoinformatics research with emphasis on endocrine disrupting chemicals or genome-wide association studies. The starting salary is about $57,000/year. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated individual who has the ability and desire to pursue solutions to challenging, interdisciplinary problems in a fast-paced research environment. Only applicants who meet the following requirements will be considered for the position: 1) A Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics / computational biology, chemoinformatics / computational chemistry, biostatistics, toxicology, or a closely related field; 2) U.S. citizenship or permanent resident or H-1 holder willing to convert to J-1 status or foreign applicant (through J1 visa). 3) Proficiency with at least one programming language (C, C++, Java, etc.) and experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environment; 4) Experience with software packages of MatLab, SAS, R, or other statistical analysis programs; 5) Excellent oral and written communication skills; 6) Good judgment, clear sense of purpose, and accountability. Preferred, but not required, skills include: 1) Experience with SAR and QSAR modeling, database system Symyx Isentris; 2) Some background in quantum chemical methods and molecular mechanics for large-scale systems; 3) A good conceptual background in genetics, molecular biology, and statistics; 4) Experience in docking or other virtual screening methods. The mission of NCTR is to conduct peer-review scientific research that supports and anticipates FDAs current and future regulatory needs. NCTR is an equal opportunity / affirmative employer.
