The CCDC is looking for full-time SBDD Science Expert to join their team.

CCDC has a role for a talented individual to product manage CCDC's life sciences portfolio in drug discovery. The ideal candidate would act as an evangelist for CCDC software and services to the customer base, would manage and maintain the product life cycle of key CCDC products and would help to guide research & development towards critical areas where CCDC software & services can have impact.

The successful candidate will work extensively with the Head of CCDC's Life Sciences R&D team and team members to facilitate setting of the strategic direction for life sciences, ensuring strong alignment with key customer needs.

Job Title: SBDD Science Expert
Group: Life Science

Reports to: Executive Director

ROLE PURPOSE

Life Sciences Product Management. CCDC has a role for a talented individual to product manage CCDC's life sciences portfolio in drug discovery. The ideal candidate would act as an evangelist for CCDC software and services to the customer base, would manage and maintain the product life cycle of key CCDC products and would help to guide research & development towards cr itical areas where CCDC software & services can have impact.

The successful candidate will work extensively with the Head of CCDC's Life Sciences R&D team and team members to facilitate setting of the strategic direction for life sciences, ensuring strong alignment with key customer needs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Facilitation

  • Accountability for building, shaping and coordinating CCDC's life sciences strategy in drug discovery in collaboration with the CCDC's Life Sciences R&D team.
  • Ensuring organisational awareness of key developments and opportunities in the life sciences area.

Product Management

  • Responsibility for managing the product lifecycle for CCDC drug discovery products.
  • Clear development of sharable roadmaps for products.

User Communication

  • Ensure end-user awareness of CCDC's software & services; ensure said end users understand how CCDC's software and services can help them in what they do.
  • Be responsible for building and maintaining user communications with customers to allow alignment of Life Science R&D with the needs of the customer.
  • Be responsible for communicating feedback & agreeing life science directions with the CCDC's Life Sciences R&D team.

Candidate Profile

  • University degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, medicine or physics (PhD or M.D.)
  • At least 5 years of working experience in drug discovery, with a proven track record of team work in structure-based small molecule drug discovery programs, as a computational or medicinal chemist.
  • Good working knowledge of current software tools for structure-based design with a particular focus on knowledge-based approaches (ideally hands-on experience with CCDC software); expertise in scripting and coding.
  • Excellent strategic and communication skills: Ability to think analytically, to formulate succinctly, to present clearly and to develop and maintain a strategic view.
  • Organisational skills: Ability to translate and negotiate between users and developers of software tools. Ability to self-organise & prioritise effectively.
