Subject: 17.10.05 Postdoctoral position on soil components in Vienna
A joint postdoctoral position between the Institute of Molecular Modeling and Simulation and the Instute of Soil Research at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna will be available from January 1st, 2018. The research will focus on computational methods to model the interface between mineral surfaces and organic matter as observed in soil components. Soils typically consist of a mixture of minerals and organic matter and geochemical interfaces between mineral surfaces and soil organic matter are abundant. In this project we will study the interaction of soil organic matter with mineral surfaces using classical mechanics and molecular dynamics simulations. Using the recently developed soil organic matter modeler (http://somm.boku.ac.at), we will create condensed phase models of soil organic matter and model the interactions with selected mineral surfaces. Required Qualifications: - PhD degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Soil Science or a related field. - Strong background in molecular dynamics (MD) - Strong track record of scientific productivity and publication record - Strong programming/scripting skills in Linux/Unix environments - Excellent oral and written communication skills Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, 3.590,70. University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna seeks to increase the number of its female faculty and staff members. Therefore qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply. In case of equal qualification, female candidates will be given preference unless reasons specific to an individual male candidate tilt the balance in his favour. http://www.map.boku.ac.at/en/mms/ http://www.wabo.boku.ac.at/en/ibf/
