The postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Giovanni Bistoni in the framework of computational chemistry applications.
The position is available immediately, preferably no later than January 2018. The positions are initially for 12 months with an option of renewal for two more years and are remunerated according to the labor agreement for public service (TVöD), E13.
Job Description: The MPI CEC is presently looking for a candidate with a strong background in theoretical and computational chemistry. The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Giovanni Bistoni and will carry out an exciting project on the topic Application of highly correlated methods in homogeneous catalysis. The candidate will carry out pioneering research in a wide range of quantum chemistry applications, ranging from mechanistic studies of chemical reactions of importance in homogeneous catalysis to in-depth studies of the electronic structure of chemically interesting systems. Collaborations with experimentally working as well as other theory groups are anticipated.
Qualifications: PhD degree in theoretical chemistry with emphasis on computational chemistry. The candidate must have experience in the application of electronic structure theory and computational methods to the study of chemical reaction mechanisms. Knowledge about coupled cluster theory and elementary skills in computer programming would be appreciated.
