Principal Computational Chemist Starting salary from: 35,800- 61,400 (GBP) per annum (dependent upon experience) Job Ref: MI/18/08 Duration: Fixed term until 31 March 2019 (in the first instance) About the role: As part of the expansion of the CRUK Manchester Institute Drug Discovery Unit (http://www.cruk.manchester.ac.uk/Our-Research/Drug-Discovery), we are seeking enthusiastic and proactive experts in Structure Guided Drug Design to help drive our programmes from early lead identification through to candidate selection. An expert in the use of packages such as the Schrodinger Suite, MOE, Pipeline Pilot and Cresset to drive lead generation and lead optimisation activities, you will work closely with our synthetic and medicinal chemists, applying both our industry-standard tools and your own expertise to help guide and focus chemistry strategy across our project portfolio, from hit identification to pre-clinical candidate selection. You will also have significant impact in the identification, assessment and prioritisation our future drug discovery opportunities. Alongside these project roles, you will influence and develop our group capabilities and collaborations in structure-guided drug design, structural biology and chemoinformatics and seek innovative ways of interacting with our chemistry team to maximise the use of computation techniques in the delivery of human drug candidates. You will also have responsibility for the on-going support and future enrichment of our Dotmatics informatics platform across all drug discovery disciplines. About you: The successful applicant should have a PhD in Chemistry or a related subject along with extensive experience in structure-guided drug design, computational lead generation campaigns and interactions with chemists at different stages of drug discovery programmes.
