Subject: 18.03.12 Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biophysics, Chicago IL
A postdoctoral position is available in the Wereszczynski group in the Physics Department at the
Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. Our interdisciplinary research focuses on
understanding the physical basis of biomolecular mechanisms through the use and development of
atomic-scale simulations in collaboration with experimentalists. The group has strong computational
resources, including access to national supercomputing sites and state of the art local facilities, and
is supported by federal funding from both the NIH and NSF. We are located in the Center for
Molecular Study of Condensed Soft Matter, a transdisciplinary center in the Pritzker Institute of
Biomedical Science and Engineering. Additional details are available at:

Postdoctoral fellows will perform cutting-edge molecular dynamics simulations of protein-nucleic acid
complexes, travel to national scientific conferences, and mentor students in the lab. The successful
candidate will be enthusiastic, hard working, and have good communication skills. The ability to work
with and train others is essential, as is a strong publication history. Experience with computational
simulations, including, but not limited to, molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, and quantum mechanical
methods, is required, as is a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or a related field. Experience with enhanced
sampling, free energy calculations, or coarse-grain simulations is highly desirable.

The start date for this position is flexible but would ideally be between the summer and fall of 2018.
The contract is for one year and is renewable for a second year, pending a performance evaluation.
Applicants should apply at:

A complete application includes a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and contact information for three
references. The cover letter should describe past and current research, future research interests,
and applicable skills. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position
is filled.
