Subject: 18.05.08 Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biophysics, New York
One postdoctoral position is available immediately in the group of Prof. Themis Lazaridis (http://lazaridisgroup.ccny.cuny.edu) at the Department of Chemistry, City College of New York. Requirements are a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or related field, experience in theoretical and computational research, and a good publication record. Knowledge of Biology is desirable but not essential. Programming skills are highly desirable. Research in the group focuses on modeling protein-membrane interactions and membrane proteins. The successful candidate will work on an NIH-funded project on the mechanism of membrane pore formation by antimicrobial peptides mainly using atomistic simulations, but also implicit solvent simulations and continuum theory. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated and self-reliant, with good oral and written communication skills and excellent analytical abilities. He or she would be fascinated by biological systems and would enjoy striving to obtain simple explanations of complex biological phenomena. Interested candidates should email a CV, a description of research accomplishments and interests, and the names of at least two referees to tlazaridis#ccny.cuny.edu.NOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!!
