Schrödinger’s mission is to revolutionize drug discovery through the use of breakthrough computational methods. We are currently looking for outstanding individuals to join our drug discovery group and contribute to our rapidly expanding portfolio of drug discovery collaborations.

Our drug discovery group of over 60 scientists includes designers, modelers, computational chemists, medicinal chemists, crystallographers, biochemists, and biologists with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers as well as a large scale compute infrastructure. Four of the programs weve worked on in the past 7 years have progressed into the clinic; three are still progressing through trials and one is approved by the FDA.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with drug discovery and translational PK/PD experience. The successful individual will be responsible for drug candidate design, defining differentiation strategies, determining drug disposition mechanism and target pharmacology. Interpreting toxicokinetics profiles and establishing human dose predictions. Evidence of prior success in applying predictive tools and utilizing modeling and simulations to efforts will be an advantage. A sound understanding of PK and PD principles and hands-on experience in modeling and simulation are critical to this role. Ultimately, the selected candidate is expected to provide scientifically sound approaches and data integration for effective decision-making and enable advancement of drug candidates into clinical development.


  • Managing ADME data generation and interpretation for drug discovery programs
  • Empirical and/or model-based interspecies scaling of PK/PD and making human dose projections
  • Development of predictive mechanistic pharmacology models to guide discovery teams to select appropriate compounds and molecular targets.
  • Aid biologists and experimentalists in implementing emerging methodologies and technologies with respect to the design, execution and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team efforts to make decisions on compound and program progression

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in pharmacokinetics or other related discipline with 8+ years of drug discovery experience
  • A sound understanding of pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) principles (non-compartmental, compartmental, PBPK)
  • Excellent understanding and hand-on experience in PK/PD modeling and simulation
  • Ability to learn new areas of biological sciences and build on solid foundation of quantitative skills to develop mechanistically-relevant PK-PD models
  • Experience in managing external studies at CROs including monitoring study execution and ensuring finalization of study reports within set timeline
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • Skilled at working in a multidisciplinary environment

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience on translational research, IND-enabling studies, as well as early clinical development
  • Comfortable working across a number of disease areas and able to shift gears quickly
  • Open to change and the unknown with a creative and resourceful nature; a self-starter, proactive and results-oriented with high performance standards
