Subject: 19.04.04 PhD position in Computational Chemistry/Physics
Self-assembly of peptides and other macromolecules into crystals provides an inexpensive, easily tailorable, and non-catalytic route to creation of drug formulations that can be engineered from the molecular to micron scale. Our molecular modelling group at Bernal Institute, University of Limerick is recruiting talented graduates to join us in designing these new types of solid state pharmaceutical materials. We are seeking highly-motivated students holding or expecting to obtain a good honours degree in chemistry, physics, or related discipline. Full training and support will be given, and the computational models we develop will guide experiments in our academic and industry partner R&D labs. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate excellent skills in physics and chemistry and a strong interest in atomic scale materials design in particular modelling organic/biomolecule structures.
