Description
The Department of Chemistry is seeking a 12-month, post-doctoral research fellow to work on a project of employing computational methods to study protein-protein and protein-RNA interactions as well as other biomolecular problems. The initial appointment will be for one year and is full time and benefitted, with potential for renewal for a second year, pending annual review of performance and continued availability of funding. The start date is July 16, 2021.
The Department of Chemistry in Abbott Hall is well equipped for ongoing research performed by individual faculty funded by external funding from National Science Foundation, ND EPSCOR, PRF ACS and other agencies. Abbott Hall houses 29 laboratories and classrooms, over 30 faculty and student offices including space for provides modern teaching and research facilities in the state of North Dakota and surrounding regions.

Duties & Responsibilities
The position will be working on a project of employing computational methods to study charge transfer and energy transfer processes in protein-protein and protein-RNA interactions as well as other biomolecular problems. The applicant will be expected to conduct himself or herself in a professional and ethical manner, contribute to the project intellectually, prepare journal manuscripts, and help the advisor to mentor group students.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or engineering
  • 3 years plus research background in quantum chemistry calculations
  • 3 years plus research background in molecular dynamics simulations
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of QM/MM and coding development skills

Minimum Hiring Salary $40,000 a year, full-time, benefitted
