Subject: 24.05.22 Postdoc and PhD student positions available at chair of Theoretical Chemistry/Quantum Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Martin Kaupp, TU Berlin
A postdoc position will be open at the chair of Theoretical Chemistry/Quantum Chemistry at Technical University Berlin
in the group of Prof. Dr. Martin Kaupp as of September 1st, 2024 (duration until the end of 2026). The position is associated with the
Berlin Collaborative Research Center 1349 on Fluoro-specific interactions. It will involve quantum-chemical studies
of species in solution in collaboration with experimental groups at the CRC.
The position will involve the use and further development of state-of-the-art quantum-chemical methods, including solvent models,
new density functionals, high-level wave function methods, as well as relativistic methodologies.

Additionally, two PhD student positions are open at the chair (duration 5 years each). These involve research in modern areas of quantum chemistry
(development, implementation and evaluation of new density functionals, as well as work on solvent models and computational
chemistry projects in collaboration with experimental groups) as well as teaching at the chair.

The postdoc position is based on the usual TV-L13 salary of the German university and public service system,
the PhD student positions provide 66 % TV-L13 salaries. The prospective postdoc and PhD students will be embedded
in one of the most active, collaborative and stimulating research environments worldwide in the wider Berlin research area.

The postdoc candidate must hold an excellent PhD in theoretical/computational chemistry and have profound English and autonomous learning ability skills.
The successful candidate will be creative, ambitious, and motivated. Broad chemistry knowledge and profound experience in quantum chemistry and
density functional theory is expected.

The PhD students are expected to hold an excellent MSc degree in chemistry (theoretical or computational), interdisciplinary natural sciences, physics, or related.
In addition to being highly motivated for research in quantum chemistry, the willingness and ability to teach in German will be required for the PhD students.
Interested candidates should send their meaningful applications with the usual documents
in a single PDF file to martin.kaupp]^[tu-berlin.de. The file should include a motivation letter,
a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, transcripts of degree certificates, and the contact
details of at least two referees.

Only the best candidates for the advertised positions will be contacted for the next selection round.
Applications will be examined until the positions are filled. Start date by agreement.
