I would like to know if there has been any work done in terms of QSAR
models for toxins released by pathogens/microbes. If there are any
publications in this area, I would appreciate  references and also some
feed back on the feasibility of this task.

Dave, you may be right. But COSMO-RS, which is a combination of a dielectric continuum model with a statistical thermodynamic
approach can very well handle octanol and even much more complicated solvents and solvent mixtures.

i am more or less new to that program and installed it only two months ago.
now when i tried to create a gpf or dpf file using the mkdpf3 or mkgpf3
files, i always get an error message like this:

the environment variable is set correctly, since other scripts work well.
even when i copy the two pdbq and pdbqs files in the share directory (i.e.
where the dpf3gen and gpf3gen files are located), the erro message occurs.
can anybody help me with that problem?

Hi, 

do you want to use those machines for ab initio stuff, classical MD, or
what else? 

One word of caution concerning athlons: one of our athlon machines
failed after 6 months; CPU destroyed, possibly because of overheating.
Athlons can become quite hot, as well as the I/O (e.g. southbridge)
chips. Some MBs have extra fans for the southbridge. Get good cooling
and good warranty conditions.
