        Thanks again to DOUGH@mdli.com for his offer of assistance. 
There is another way to
solve the problem.  Since the size of the file was too large and only a
portion of the DNA segment is of interest, deleting the unnessecary
atoms from the pdb file made the file manageable.  Interchanging between
*.pdb and *.mol (molgen) and vice versa was possible.
