The workshop will provide a practical introduction to popular tools for biomolecular visualisation, analysis and simulations. Lectures will be given by both international and local speakers from the research fields of structural bioinformatics and computer-aided drug design. The course is intended for MSc, PhD, and Post Doc level participants that have basic knowledge on protein structure from the fields of biology, molecular biology, biomedicine or bioinformatics, and want to get an introduction to computational tools for use in their research. A medium level of computer skills is required, as we will be using a combination of online tools, windows-based programs, and command-line based programs. The venue holds Linux computers for the course participants with all installed programs. Main topics: - Protein structure visualization and analysis (PDB, PyMOL, APBS) - Structure prediction (web-tools: Swiss-model and Psi-pred) - Computer-aided drug design (Schrdinger and LigandScout) - Protein dynamics and flexibility (Bio3D, Amber, and web-tools) - Data analysis and plotting with R (R-studio) Workshop web-site: http://bio3d.b.uib.no Time and place: 28 September - 2 October 2015, Bergen, Norway Credit: 2 ECTS points Early bird deadline: June 30 Note that the course has a maximum capacity of 30 participants.
