Not sure but there is a gopher server at "stis.nsf.gov"
try a LYCOS netsearch for a corresponding WWW site

Subject: Parallel programs for energy calc.

Dear Netters:

We are working on a parallel program to calculate torsional
energies for bio-macromolecules. The program runs on a
network of transputers. We would like to know if any attempt
of this nature has been or is being done elsewhere.
If so, we would like to interchange points of view and impre-
ssions. I would appreciate replies to the personal electronic
adress so as to summarize later.
     Thanks for your attention:
                                Carlos A. Del Carpio.

I totally endorse this. Perhaps the URC (citation or characteristic, I
cannot remember which) will also help, since it identifies key features
of a document (its date, its authors, its location, its COST, its expiry,
and perhaps even its keywords). However, I would point out that
the infra structure needed for global URNs will represent a massive
investment of equipment and software. It will come, but only over
a period of perhaps years. Can we wait that long?

In the UK, several funding initiatives are under way which hopefully will
provide resources. For example, the FIGIT plan is intended to provide
20 million pounds over 5 years, and there are several European initiatives.
Perhaps people might wish to comment on whether funding in their
own environment is beginning to flow? In this regard, membership of
the W3O is critical. Again, do any of you know if you have a local
representative? For example, Netscape are members!

I happen to view this area as the one giving the most exciting and challenging
opportunity of all. The development of intelligent robots which can sort the
chaos out and deliver it to us is an untouched area. Will we leave it
to computer scientists? Come on all you budding chemistry programmers,
get thinking!! Come on all you software houses, wake up to the
possibilities!!!

ONE DAY SYMPOSIUM ON COMPUTATIONAL CHEMISTRY
                      AND MOLECULAR DESIGN

                             at the

               6th Asian Chemical Congress(6ACC)

               Phillipine Village Airport Hotel
                     MANILLA, PHILLIPINES

The symposium will cover research in computational chemistry, molecular design
and bio-organic chemistry. The symposium will follow a similar format to that
of the successful computational chemistry symposium held at the 5th Asian
Chemical Congress in Kuala Lumpur in 1993. Papers discussing research conducted
in any of these broad areas are now requested by the Symposium convenor.
Further information on the 6ACC can be obtained from the

    6ACCU95 Secretariat,

Requests for further information on the computational chemistry symposium, and
expressions of interest, should be directed to the convenor:-

Dr. David Winkler Phone: 61-3-542-2244

Abstracts of papers (one inch margins, A4 paper, single spaced 10 point Times,
Courier, Pica or Elite typeface, title in bold capitals) should be submitted to
the Secretariat as soon as possible. Please send copies to the computational
chemistry convenor as well.
