Subject: 14.05.25 Workshop: From Computational Biophysics to Systems Biology (CBSB14), Gdansk (Poland) May 25-27, 2014
Dear colleague, We invite you to participate in the upcoming workshop on biological physics and systems biology entitled "From Computational Biophysics to Systems Biology 2014 (CBSB14)" which will take place at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology, University of Gdansk and Medical University of Gdansk, in Gdansk (Poland) May 25 through May 27, 2014. * There are opportunities for oral presentations, and * * students/postdocs are eligible for travel fellowships. * * More details can be found below or at * * http://www.cbsb.pl * CBSB14 is organized in conjunction with the University of Gdansk and the University of Oklahoma, and will continue a series of successful workshops that have been held since 2006 in both Europe and the USA. As in previous years, the workshop aims to bring together expertise from physics, biology, and computer science to discuss current trends in computational biophysics and systems biology. Topics of CBSB14 will include folding and aggregation, protein-protein complexes, supramolecular assemblies, cellular environments and interaction networks. A list of confirmed speakers includes as keynote speakers: * John Moult (University of Maryland) * Andrzej Kolinski (University of Warsaw) * Thomas Lippert (Forschungszentrum Juelich) and as further invited speakers: * Stefan Auer (University of Leeds) * Ewa Broclawik (Jagiellonian University) * Andrzej Kloczkowski (Childrenâs Hospital) * Jooyoung Lee (Korea Institute for Advanced Study) * Mai Suan Li (Insitute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences) * Jan-Sierwert Marrink (University of Groningen) * Jarek Meller (University of Cincinnati) * Antti Niemi (Uppsala University) * Stanislaw Oldziej (University of Gdansk) * Harold A. Scheraga (Cornell University) * Joanna Trylska (University of Warsaw) We especially encourage participation by students and postdocs, and we expect to offer financial support for selected students and postdocs on a competitive basis. Five junior scientists (students, postdocs and other young researchers who do not hold independent academic positions) will be selected to receive a "CBSB14 Young Researcher Award" which we expect to include a 250 Euro travel fellowship and the opportunity to give a featured oral presentation. Awardees will also be exempt from the registration fee. Contingent on availability of funds, 10 additional junior scientists will receive travel awards of 100 Euro each and free registration, and will compete for additional oral presentation slots. All accepted applicants will be able to present their research in poster form. The registration deadline is April 15 to be considered for an oral or poster presentation. Acceptance letters and notifications of fellowship awards will be sent out by April 22, 2014. The registration fee is 250 Euro for regular attendees and 150 Euro for junior scientists (students, postdocs, and other young researchers who do not hold independent academic positions). The corresponding early birds rates are 200 Euro and 100 Euro (if paid by April 30, 2014). Please circulate this announcement among your colleagues, students, and postdocs; and contact us with any questions you might have by sending email to office]*[cbsb.pl With best regards, Cezary Czaplewski Ulrich H.E.
