Dear All,

We are pleased to invite you to the next event of the "Hands-On" Computational Biophysics Workshop series dedicated to Simulations of Bacterial and Eukaryotic Cells: Integration of Experiments and Theory.
The workshop is organized by the NIH Center for Macromolecular Modeling and Bioinformatics of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in association with the NSF Center for the Physics of Living Cells.
It will be held at the Beckman Institute, in Urbana - IL, from July 18-20, 2018.
This workshop will be presented by members of the NIH and NSF Centers, and by invited leaders in experimental imaging of biological processes in bacteria and eukaryotic cells.
The topics will include principles underlying cellular networks of genetic information processing and metabolism, introduction to stochastic whole cell simulations with GPU-based Lattice Microbes (LM) software suite,
how to build a cell from experimental imaging data through Exp-2-LM Jupyter Notebooks, visualization of bacterial and eukaryotic cells with VMD, and multi-scale simulations of cellular processes over time scales of a cell cycle.
Morning lectures will introduce fundamental theory and concepts, while afternoon hands-on computer laboratory sessions will allow participants to gain practical knowledge in using the design and simulation software.
