<p class="pagebody">
The Theoretical Chemistry group led by Mario Barbatti at the Institute of 
Radical Chemistry (ICR) of the Aix Marseille University in Marseille, France, 
is looking for a postdoc in artificial intelligence (AI) for chemistry, 
starting in November 2024  February 2025, for up to three years.</p>

<p class="pagebody">
The candidate must propose a research topic that they will develop during 
their stay in Marseille.</p>

<p class="pagebody">
It is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious young researcher to become 
independent and create their research line.</p>

<p class="pagebody">
The research topic should be AI in chemistry. It does not need to be 
connected to any previous research developed in Barbatti's group.
</p>

<p class="pagebody">
In Marseille, the selected candidate is expected to:</p>
<ul class="pagebody">
<li>Develop the proposed research project;</li>
<li>Offer consulting advice to experimental and theoretical groups of the ICR,
eventually establishing new collaborations;</li>
<li>Train master and PhD students on AI techniques.</li>
</ul>

<p class="pagebody">
The ideal candidate must demonstrate:</p>
<ul class="pagebody">
<li>Strong background in programming;</li>
<li>Strong background in AI applied to the project's field;</li>
<li>Strong background in the scientific field of the project;</li>
<li>Capacity to independently and successfully develop the proposed project;</li>
<li>Capacity to communicate with experimental groups in chemistry;</li>
</ul>

<p class="pagebody">
Preference will be given to a candidate who has the potential to remain for 
the three years of the contract.</p>
<p class="pagebody">
The selection committee will also evaluate the proposed project in terms of:
</p>
<ul class="pagebody">
<li>Originality;</li>
<li>Potential impact.</li>
</ul>

<p class="pagebody">
The project can be related to experimental aspects of chemistry. However, the 
candidate must take into account that it will be executed in a theoretical 
chemistry group. </p>

<p class="pagebody">
Barbatti's group in Marseille mainly focuses on research on photoinduced 
molecular processes. Although a project related to this topic may be 
particularly appreciated, an unrelated project with high potential impact can 
equally be selected. </p>

<p class="pagebody">
Applications should be sent by email to Mario Barbatti until September 15, 
containing:</p>
<ul class="pagebody">
<li>CV emphasizing the candidate's experience relevant to the project;</li>
<li>Publication list;</li>
<li>Two referee contacts to request recommendation letters. (Referees will be 
contacted only for short-listed candidates.)</li>
<li>A research statement telling past achievements, the three most relevant 
publications with the candidate's contribution to each one, and professional 
goals. </li>
<li>A research project composed of a 1-page summary, followed by no more than 
two pages of a detailed description of:<ul>
<li>Challenges the project will address</li>
<li>The current state-of-the-art in the field</li>
<li>Project goals</li>
<li>How the goals will be achieved within the three years of the project</li>
</ul>

The Theoretical Chemistry group in Marseille offers a vibrant and diverse 
research environment with expertise in the development, implementation, and 
application of methods for nonadiabatic molecular dynamics. The group is 
responsible for the design and development of the Newton-X platform. More
