A postdoc position is available in the Daniel Ess
computational and simulation lab at Brigham Young University (BYU) 
(https://esslab.byu.edu/).

The start date is anticipated to be between Jan. 2027 and May 2027.

Projects will be modeling inorganic and organometallic reactions and catalysis and 
will range from fundamental studies to collaboration with petrochemical industrial 
partners to design new catalysts. You will use electronic structure calculations, 
machine learning, and programming.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in computational or theoretical chemistry or a related field.

Applicants must be independent, be able to handle multiple projects, and be expert in 
electronic structure computational programs and theoretical analyses. Applicants should 
have a strong background in reaction mechanisms. Applicants should have good 
programming skills (e.g. Python) and either experience or willing to learn machine 
learning methods. 

BYU has a very friendly campus environment in Provo, which is the second largest city in Utah.
