OpenBabel is part of the Debian universe repository so if you have a =20 Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/etc Linux system all it takes is to type "sudo =20 apt-get install openbabel" in a terminal. Two packages at least will =20 be installed : openbabel itself and libopenbabel2 which contains the =20 library you are missing. I suggest you not to trust OpenBabel too much anyway... the OpenEye =20 Babel implementation is IMHO more reliable and as an academic you can =20 have it for free.
