This session intends to examine what progress has been made in utilizing the technologies of the internet to facilitate chemical information exchange, chemical publishing, and the way chemists actually perform their science. In particular, the session will focus on future directions and technologies that will continue to change the way chemists work. In addition to the invited talks, the organizers are looking for contributed presentations that examine new applications of the chemical internet. Topic areas might include (but are certainly not restricted to) new databases and tools for access them, new publication technologies, the "Open" movement (including open access, open data and open science), e-commerce, grid and cloud computing, and social networking.
