Well, to start out with, there's an Open Babel mailing list for
 problems: openbabel-discuss~~lists.sourceforge.net
There are many, many prebuilt binaries. Judging from your message,
 you're looking for an Open Babel package for Linux. You don't mention
 your distribution, but I suspect it already has an Open Babel package:
