Introduction to Chemical Topics

Many articles and text books dive right into a detailed treatment of their subjects with out first discussing what is being done and how it is connected to related fields. The documents at this site are a series of short articles written to give chemistry students an initial introduction and basic description of the topic. Some of the topics described are appropriate for undergraduate courses while other assume a level of knowledge typical for a student taking graduate courses.

Some of these articles have been posted to the sci.chem news list or to the www.ccl.net computational chemistry list server and may be found in the appropriate archives.

The quick reference guides are hand outs from a class in computational chemistry. These guides are written for beginners and are in no way comprehensive.

An expanded version of this collection will be published in "Computational Chemistry: A Practical Guide for Applying Techniques to Real World Problems" by David Young, which will be available from John Wiley & Sons in the spring of 2001.
