Welcome to Molecules-3D. December 31, 1994
This is Test Drive Version 2.10D of the commercial-release package.

**********************************************************************
TEST DRIVE
**********************************************************************
This Test Drive Version will allow you to use all features of the
software. The only limitations of the Test Drive version are:
* Coach Lewis will accept formulas with 4 characters or less.
* Page Viewer will import molecules with 6 atoms or less.
* 3D Builder has Export Molecule and Edit Cut/Copy commmands disabled.

**********************************************************************
DISTRIBUTION LICENSE
**********************************************************************
This disk may be freely duplicated and distributed for the purpose of
evaluating Molecules-3D provided that all files on this diskette are
kept together.

**********************************************************************
INSTALLATION
**********************************************************************
Standard Installation will perform the following:
* Decompress & Copy: Applications to a folder on your hard drive
* Decompress & Copy: 3D structure files to the program folder
* Decompress & Copy: Configuration files to a folder inside the Preferences folder

To install Molecules-3D:

1.	Insert original Master Diskette into disk drive.

2.	Double-click the "Molecules-3D Installer" application.

3.	Select the location (destination folder) on the hard drive where you would like Molecules-3D to be installed.

4. You can now run Molecules-3D from your hard drive.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
**********************************************************************
FLICKERING IMAGES
------------------
When given enough RAM, Molecules-3D will draw its images to an off screen buffer, then copy the entire buffer to the screen at one time. This reduces flicker when drawing complex images. Large windows will require a larger buffer to prevent flicker. If not enough RAM is available, the off screen buffer will not be used, so images will flicker when they are drawn.
If you have a large monitor and sufficient RAM, you may want to give Molecules-3D and 3DÊBuilder more memory so they can use an off screen buffer with large windows. You can do this by increasing the Preferred size memory requirement in the Get Info. dialogs for the Molecules-3D and 3D Builder applications from the Finder. When choosing the Preferred size setting, make sure there will be enough available RAM to launch 3D Builder (about 1200K initially) and Cleanup (about 600K.)

PRINTING DELAYS
----------------
When printing, Molecules-3D sends a large, high-resolution bitmap of the page to the printer in order to preserve high quality molecule images. Printing a bitmap like this will send much more information to the printer than printing other types of documents. This may cause Molecules-3D print jobs to take longer than other print jobs like text documents. Don't be alarmed if a document takes 10 or 20 minutes to print.
The time a document takes to print depends on several factors, including the type of printer (laser, ink-jet, dot-matrix), the specific model of printer, the type of connection to the computer (direct connection or network connection), the type network, and the load on the network. For these reasons, it is impossible to predict the amount of time a print job may take, but in the best case a document will usually take several minutes to print.
