INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the web site of ESPA 2008, the 6th Congress on Electronic
Structure: Principles and Applications (ESPA) that will be held in
Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands  Spain) from September 2 to 5, 2008.

The first meeting of this series was held in Miraflores de la Sierra
(Madrid) in 1998, under the name "Workshop on Computational Chemistry",
and subsequently in San Sebastian ("Electronic Structure: Prediction
and Applications", 2000). The success of these workshops has encouraged
the Spanish community of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry to
consolidate these activities as periodic events, organized every two
years. The present name "Electronic Structure: Principles and
Applications (ESPA)" was first given to the congress held in Sevilla
(2002). Last editions were organized by the University of Valladolid
(2004) and the University of Santiago de Compostela (2006).

The conference covers all topics in the field of Theoretical and
Computational Chemistry. Contributions on the theory, methodology and
applications of all aspects of Computational Chemistry are invited,
including, but no limited to electronic and molecular structure,
condensed phase, bio- and chemoinformatics and reaction mechanisms.

We hope that besides the interesting scientific contacts you will find
some time before, during or after the Congress to enjoy the
hospitality, cultural richness and beauty of Mallorca, and of the
capital, Palma de Mallorca. We hope to see you in Palma on September 2,2008.

The Congress will begin in the early afternoon of tuesday September 2
with a welcome. From September 3-5 there will be a mix of plenary
lectures, contributed oral presentations and poster session. There will
be a congress excursion, as well as other social events for
participants and accompanying persons. The Congress will conclude on
friday September 5, with a closing banquet.
